Inspection and installation
Follow the product condition and manufacturer's documentation shown in this listing. Have installation and diagnosis carried out by a qualified workshop. Rectify the cause of the previous fault before fitting the replacement part.
Learn how it powers the vehicle's electrical system and how to protect it from damage.
The alternator generates electricity while the engine runs. It powers systems for engine operation, safety and comfort, and charges the battery that provides starting power. Driven by the auxiliary belt, it converts mechanical energy into electrical energy.
Moisture and water entering the alternator can damage its components. When cleaning the engine bay, do not aim a strong water jet directly at it, and follow the vehicle manufacturer's instructions.
